Sowing squash

Mounds of fine seed bed soil were spaced three feet apart and three squash seeds sown for each mound.

When the first true leaves of our squash appear, the mounds with a depression in the center for catching and infiltrating water to the clayey-loam below. (Since breaking ground, the rains have been our only means of irrigation).

Once true leaves appear, each mound will be thinned down to one squash plant per mound.
